The heartwarming film Dear You has recently hit the screens. Through exquisite and sincere visual storytelling, it reconnects the public with the overseas Chinese community and puts Qiaopi—remittance-accompanied family letters imbued with the warmth of time and profound patriotism—in the spotlight. As a renowned overseas Chinese hometown in southern Zhejiang, Qingtian boasts a centuries-old history of overseas migration. Generations of local people ventured across vast oceans and strived relentlessly abroad. They expressed homesickness and stayed true to their original aspirations through countless Qiaopi letters, nurturing the deep-rooted sentiment of "taking hometown as the root and keeping the motherland in heart". These precious letters have written an inspiring century-long chapter of loyalty for this historic overseas Chinese hometown.

Qiaopi refers to family letters sent home by modern-era overseas Chinese, usually with remittances attached. Locals in Qingtian affectionately call them "overseas letters". Every yellowed Qiaopi and weathered relic bears witness to the longing of overseas kinsfolk that crossed mountains and seas. Housed in the Qingtian Overseas Chinese History Museum, over 800 historical artifacts including vintage passports, foreign currencies and handwritten Qiaopi are neatly displayed. They silently recount the arduous journeys and pioneering struggles of Qingtian's overseas Chinese who ventured abroad and built businesses through untold hardships over the past century.
With profound overseas Chinese heritage, Qingtian has 381,000 compatriots in 146 countries. 315 overseas Chinese associations form an extensive and close-knit network, a unique advantage for its opening-up. Tang Meili, Vice Chairperson of Qingtian Overseas Chinese Federation, said Qingtian's overseas Chinese have always stood with the motherland, and these relics are a true reflection of their deep affection for their hometown and unwavering original aspirations.

Early ancestors ventured abroad with Qingtian stone carvings. Today's compatriots thrive in catering, trade and other fields. Now, many return with nostalgia and responsibility, bringing capital, technologies and premium overseas resources, sparking an investment boom fueling Qingtian's high-quality development. The county has 500+ overseas Chinese-funded enterprises, with nearly 100,000 investing locally; over 100 key projects introduced in five years, with total contracted investment exceeding 35 billion yuan.
Wu Haiyan, Executive Deputy Leader of Qingtian's Overseas Chinese Trade Integration Leading Group, noted that returning overseas Chinese have introduced advanced craftsmanship, e-commerce models and cutting-edge technologies to the county, driving the transformation and upgrading of the local overseas Chinese trade industry. Qingtian is steadily shifting from the "Qingtian People's Economy" to the "Qingtian Economy", turning overseas Chinese resources into the core driving force for county development.

In the old days when long-distance communication was extremely difficult, Qiaopi crossed mountains and oceans. They served as a vital bond to connect families and ease homesickness, while also providing strong support for hometown construction. As time passes and communication tools evolve, the sincere devotion of Qingtian's overseas Chinese to their hometown and motherland has never changed. They will continue to write brilliant new chapters in the development of this time-honored overseas Chinese hometown.
